Annmarie McGowan, M.A. CYC, B.A. CYC.
I have a B.A. in Child and Youth Care from the University of Victoria and an M.A in Child and Youth Care from Brock University with additional training in Dual Diagnosis and a diploma from Seneca College in Outdoor Recreation.
More recently, I have taken multiple online courses in Art Therapy, which has enhanced my repertoire of recreational skills that support healing and well-being.
I have supported families and individuals in Ontario and British Columbia through life skills, behavioral intervention and recreational programming. Within my career I have worked with a diverse population of children and adults who struggled with cognitive, emotional and behavioral issues. What I have found is that is most cases it is the underlying trauma caused by personal, social and familial issues were at the root of the problems. Over the course of the past 10 years I have researched and put together a theoretical practice that focuses on repairing the long term affects of trauma on the body and the brain.
You don't have to be a child to have issues resulting from childhood, that is why my practice is open to adults too, because we were all children at one point in our lives and we may still have soft spots that could use some exploration and repair.
